  1. Internet Master CD Library Access:

  3. MyCDplayer (version 2.0.0 and above) has the ability to import title, artist 
  4. and track information from a Master Library on the Internet.  This database 
  5. was created for use with the Unix xmcd CD player package by Ti Kan 
  6. (ti@amb.org). If you would like more information on this data base, point

  11. The major requirement for importing from this Master Library is a Winsock 
  12. connection to the Internet.  You MUST be connected to the Internet before 
  13. attempting to import any data.  The import feature works from both Win3.x 
  14. and Win95 systems.
  15.  
  16. To enable the import feature, go to "Options" from the "File" menu of the 
  17. main MyCDplayer menu and set "Check Internet Library".  When you insert a CD 
  18. into MyCDplayer, the program will first check your local library, then the 
  19. Win95 library (if one is on your system) and then enable you to check the 
  20. Master library.  The library system is available from a number of sites 
  21. around the world - select the one nearest you from the menu.

  23. There are about 13,000 CDs in the library - new ones are being added.  We 
  24. have run some tests on the library and found it to be well worth while.  
  25. There are a few (very few) entries that only contain the CD title, but they 
  26. will probably be weeded out before long because Ti Kan and his associates are
  27. working on improvements.

  29. Once data has been imported from the library, you may wish to perform some 
  30. maintenance, such as reversing the Artist's name and categorizing CDs with
  31. MyCDplayers categories.  The Master Library categorizes all CDs, but only
  32. some of them match the many more MyCDplayer categories - if they match, they
  33. will be entered into the MyCDplayer categories.  The Master Library has a
  34. large "Misc" category - we import them as category "None".

  36. We could optionally make the Master Library available locally on the user's 
  37. system.  However, this would require the user to download a 3+Meg file from 
  38. the Internet which would occupy 5+Meg on the user's disk.  We will consider 
  39. it if enough people request it.
